Recent advances in integrated circuits technology have allowed the realization of a new mixed process integrating isolated D-MOS power transistors in combination with bipolar and C-MOS signal structures on the same chip. Called MULTIPOWER BCD, the technology has been used to realize a monolithic self-protected high side switch mainly intended for automotive applications. Driven by TTL, C-MOS input logic it can supply resistive or inductive loads up to 5 A D.C. allowing a current peak of 20 A with R(DSon) = 0.08 ohm. Default conditions are signaled on the diagnostic output pin.
