Standard techniques for frequency domain design of compensators for digital control systems utilize a bilinear transformation in order that ordinary Bode plots can be constructed. Algorithms which avoid the bilinear transformation are developed in this paper. Algorithms for lead, lag and lag-lead compensation are presented and some of the advantages of this approach are discussed.
