The European Commission is betting on the Galileo Commercial Service, as one of the differentiators of Galileo with respect to other GNSS, and is investing with the aim of creating a promising service with many possibilities for the civilian users. The first step was to launch two 1-year parallel CS definition studies. The studies have confirmed the feasibility and potential of high accuracy and authentication. The next step is to build a CS Demonstrator platform, to test services with the real Galileo SIS. This platform will be built as part of the AALECS ('Authentic and Accurate Location Experimentation with the Commercial Service') project, recently started. The first outcome of this project is the Early Proof-Of-Concept, which between June and September 2014 will allow the testing of E6-based navigation authentication and precise point positioning. The EPOC platform is already developed and the experimentation activities are on-going. Some remarkable objectives as tracking the E6 (encrypted and unencrypted), authenticate GNSS signals or estimating a position using authenticated data, has been already accomplished. The development of the whole demonstrator system is currently under development, and it is foreseen to be ready for early 2015.
