The fundamental functionality of the new material was already shown by previous examinations. The realization to a usable material, however, was due to experiences of long-term stability, realizable build-up in laboratory as well as in product measures, durability and profitability. MA-elastomers were generally equipped by big magnetic spools, so they had no possibilities in order to save space. Our project partners had the task to develop such an efficient MA-elastomer which could be used with many methods of vibrational reductions or improvement of comforts and thus represents a promising group of materials. The focus was laid on optimizing the permeability of particles, on adjusting the highest possible orientation and alignment of metal parts and the effect on a demonstrator. After the development of an optimal MA-material on silicone base, it could be proved that this material was switchable by the help of permanent magnets. The natural frequency of the dumper could be increased up to 80% by connecting it to the magnetic field. As a demonstrator an electronic magnet should be exchanged by the permanent magnet and after that a high temperature developed during the vulcanization as well as during the measurement of the natural frequency. A revision of the ordering of spools evidently ameliorated the situation. On this theme investigations have to be continued, to keep a long-lasting effect and switching capability. An innovative tool concept and manufacturing shall be developed to plan an economic serial production.
