Faurecia Automotive Seating acts in a world-wide context regarding product development and production. Systematic material choice as well as testing of materials and evaluation strategy for seat structures and seat components plays an increasing decisive role with respect to cost management and quality. Faurecia Automotive Seating is following its own material release procedure. Based on a systematic categorization of steel products a worldwide material screening is ongoing to know world-wide the potentials of conventional and innovative materials. The evaluation of materials is based on standardized material testing methods, on statistical analysis of production data and also on process related tests. The focus of current material approval procedure will extend by the aspect of material and process relationship. Examples for systematic evaluation of process performance testing methodology for seating application will be explained in detail. Finally the systematic approach of material and process approval leads to improved risk management based on facts. Workflow and documentation of procedure inside our company will be explained, the networking to FEA, quality management, process and product design is represented.
