The results of metallographic studies of welded joints in rails produced by aluminothermic welding are presented. The results of hardness measurements of these welded joints show that the mean hardness level of the metal of the welded joint is 240–290 HV. According to the TU 0921-127-01124323-2005 standards, the hardness values do not fully satisfy the required minimum values.
