The Porsche 918 Spyder is the first super sports car designed from scratch as a plug-in hybrid. It represents a combination of performance and efficiency never before seen in this form. In addition to the highly innovative drivetrain its systematic lightweight design equally benefits both apparently contradictory targets. The 918 Spyder, although upholding the concept of an all-CFRP structure successfully introduced with the Carrera GT, is nevertheless significantly more advances in terms of functional integration and the manufacturing process.
