A real-time driving-scenario simulator at ETH Zurich has been evaluated for its performance and the user experience in order to validate the use of the simulator and to achieve better quality. We have conducted the evaluation based on the technical settings of a heavy driving simulation task, as well as the outcome of a questionnaire of 32 participants after performing the task. Participants followed a driving tour consisting of complex driving environments with dynamic objects. Meanwhile an eye-tracker was activated for recording the eye fixation. Results revealed that our driving simulator enables high video quality of the simulation, high flexibility in the scenario settings, real-time recording of eye-tracking and driving behaviors with a low drop-out rate (12.5%).
