This paper is about potential of power accumulation in electric vehicles, their possible impact to distribution system, opportunities and threats and implications for future research and development. Nowadays there is a discussion about involving non traditional, especially intermittent energy resources into operation of electricity grids and distribution systems. One solution mentioned very often is so called Smart Grid and use of electric vehicles as its part. The purpose of involving electric vehicles should be accumulation of electric energy in the vehicle storage system and its possible release during the peak time in daily load diagram. Utilization of electric vehicles should also help to fulfill the EU goals known as 20-20-20, especially in reduction of CO2 emissions and decreasing primary fuels import dependency.
