This paper gives an overview of the aerodynamics and aeroacoustics development of the new A3 Sedan. The concept work on the new modular transverse platform and the specific optimization on the new model are presented. Thanks to an intensive work on the underbody and on the body shape, particularly on the rear lid, the new A3 Sedan attained a drag coefficient of cd = 0.28 with a frontal area of 2.12 m2. The improvement in the aeroacoustics of the new A3 hatchback in comparison to the previous generation benefited also the new A3 Sedan, allowing it to reach a very low wind noise level.
