The range of application of stainless steel in the railway industry is discussed. The results of testing of butt welded joints made in dissimilar materials are presented: 1.4462 and S500MC steel. The joints were made in two variants, namely with the use of solid wire and with the use of flux-cored wire. The test results show that the properties of joints made by the MAG method with the use of flux-cored wire are similar to those made with solid wire.
