This paper describes design and realization of a control system for a drive in an electric vehicle with separately excited DC motor. Control system regulates subordinate converters for anchor and for excitation and evaluates values from control elements of the EV and sensors. Control system consists of six microcontrollers - one PIC18F87J11 and five PIC12F1840. PIC18F87J11 microcontroller is used as main controller: It calculates values for subordinate converters; conducts communication among all microcontrollers used in drive and controls operation of the drive. PIC12F1840 microcontrollers are used for processing outputs of drive control elements and sensors.
