The increasing demand for energy-efficient cars requires the development and realisation of novel drive-trains as well as innovative lightweight structures. Novel drive-trains like electric or hydraulic hybrids offer the opportunity for an extensive improvement of the efficiency compared to conventional internal-combustion engines. But the additional weight of the hybrid components results in higher forces on the car chassis during operation. Due to necessary reinforcements, the weight of the car chassis usually increases too. Thus, the development of innovative lightweight components for hybrid drive-trains is urgently required. Therefore an innovative lightweight hydraulic bladder accumulator and a lightweight manifold for a hydraulic hybrid drivetrain have been developed at the institute of lightweight design and polymer technology at the TU Dresden. In conjunction with the dimensioning of the lightweight bladder accumulator an analytical calculation programme has been developed, which allows a fast determination of isotensoid dome shapes for the load-carrying CFRP-vessel structure. First studies and prototypes regarding a lightweight design of the bladder accumulator and the hydraulic manifold show a potential weight reduction of up to 50 % compared to conventional hydraulic components with equal requirements.
