Based on the acquired experimental data, the model verification study earned out in this study shows that the water cut effect on slug flow evolution was not captured by any of the models The three-phase unified model was used to calculate slug film and slug body holdups which are then used to calculate oil-water dispersion density and viscosity using volumetric averaging The dispersion properties, along with measured initial slug lengths, are used as inputs in the two-phase slug dissipation model The two-phase dissipation model successfully predicted the overall behaviour of complete slug dissipation, partial slug dissipation, and no slug dissipation comparing the experimental observations. However, in the complete dissipation validation case, the model failed to predict the exact location of slug initiation rather it predicted it downstream of the dip in the upward inclined section. This is speculated to be caused by the geometry of the dip and its related liquid critical volume (liquid pooling) required for slug initiation. In the partial dissipation validation case, the model accuracy to predict the slug length to slug unit length ratio reduced significantly in the vicinity of the dip due to flow complexity. Furthermore, the model predicted consistently the slug length to slug unit length ratio of 80% WC less than 20% WC while the measured data shows other trend. In the no slug dissipation in downward section and slug growth in upward section validation case, the model overall performance is improved. For example, the model predicted the trend of slug growth in upward flow section and the slug length to slug unit length ratio in the downward flow section with reasonable accuracy. However, the model could not capture the increasing trend of slug length to slug unit length ratio in the downward flow section. The OLGA two-phase model was also compared with the experimental three-phase data. For low operational conditions, OLGA was found to predict pressure gradient, holdup, slug frequency and length in the upstream and downstream horizontal sections within reasonable ranges of accuracy. It also predicted the flow in the downhill section based on slug dissipation. However, since OLGA is tuned for large scale facility and the simulated geometry in the study is relatively small, OLGA's performance to predict developing slugs were limited, thus its predictions in the undulating pipe section were not accurate.
