After a brief introduction to the importance of gear pumps in the most diverse hydraulic applications and in internal combustion engines, we applied a calculation method that allows for sizing with considerably higher delivery rates. We have taken a gear with teeth having a gear ratio τ other than one. After having identified and analyzed a traditional pump and identified two construction solutions of asymmetric gear pumps (τ≠1), we have then compared the related performances.
