The basic concept and the practical application to determine the parameters of the roll dynamic models of different vehicles are presented. Based on an easy and fast installable sensor platform which includes a multi antenna GPS system and an inertial measurement unit (IMU) the used sensor signals are fusioned in a kinematic Kalman filter. The method has a modular structure, so it is not dependent on a particular sensor configuration. With the sensor fusion the roll angle can be estimated with the sampling rate of the IMU even if the GPS has a lower sampling rate. The signals are then used for the identification of the parameters of a dynamic roll model. The identified parameters can be used as objective rating parameters which are correlated with the subjective rating of test persons. Results from test drives with 3 different vehicles at the testing field of the Technische Universität Darmstadt are presented.
