The dual clutch transmission (DCT) combines the performance advantages of both manual and conventional automatic transmission designs and has led to the development of new lubricant technology. A dual clutch transmission lubricant requires a new, specialized additive technology to meet the unique, often contradictory, requirements of the new hardware system: specific wet clutch performance with high load-carrying and thermal stability demanded by manual transmission fluids. A DCT fluid, Lubrizol DCT Fluid 1, has been developed to satisfy the unique requirements of the DCT. The new DCTF technology provides excellent: thermal and oxidative stability, anti-corrosion performance, anti-wear, wet clutch friction stability, anti-shudder friction durability, improved clutch lock-up times. The DCTF additive technology is not an ATF or MTF but is new technology which has been developed to fulfill the advanced and particular requirements of the DCT. The new DCTF technology can enable: shudder-free service in excessive conditions, stable transmission performance, longer drain, enhanced transmission life.
