Besides electric vehicle networks, power trains and exterior appearance the interior of future electric vehicles also plays an important role. Reflecting the new technology from the engine into the driver´s ambiance raises customer acceptance. The synthesis of electricity and innovative textile materials can form a basis for sustainable and technical superior interior systems. Current research topics include lightweight construction, innovative materials, integration of new functions and renewable energy. Several examples for smart interior components are seat pans with lightweight multi-material structure, piezo-electrical fibers for multi-contour seats, lighting roof lining with LEDs and folding rear window shelves with photovoltaic.
