The paper presents a two wire position signal converter for sensored BLDC motors. The suggested topology aims at reducing the number of lines necessary for connecting the sensors of a BLDC machine to the control circuitry. The designed topology keeps a simple and reliable structure. A current based conversion is used, which utilizes the sensor's power supply connection. The presented structure is analyzed and experimental results are presented. The topology is advantageous for applications where the high number of wires (5 in normal connection) is undesired - such as hub motors in electric vehicles.
