The development of vehicular electronics towards software-driven and interconnected IT systems seriously increases the demand for effective IT security measures. However, in contrast to many other vehicle functionalities, effective security functionalities are generally difficult to become integrated afterwards (if possible at all), if they have not been considered from the very beginning. In order to prevent such problems, this work will present a holistic security-integrated development process based on the classical V model engineering process that includes a model-based approach for security-critical vehicular IT systems. Furthermore, this work shortly discusses potential interrelations (e.g., conflicts or synergies) when combining the proposed security engineering with an existing safety engineering process.
