The paper introduces two of the ESOC Operations Control Centre (OCC) ancillary systems in their functionalities to support the satellites operations at ESOC: the Timing/Countdown System and the Video Distribution System. The OCC hosts all control rooms to support missions during launches, critical and routine operations of spacecrafts. As the types and characteristics of the missions supported by the OCC are changing, the OCC ancillary systems have to evolve and adapt to the new environment. The systems have shown limitations either due to their design or their technologies that needed to be overcome. The paper explains the new engineering approach and justifies the choice to go for COTS products and generic infrastructure. The new constraints in term of security and accessibility are also introduced since they have a direct impact on the selection of the new systems.
