The extension of computer and communications systems in traffic from regulating roads and supporting individual drivers to enhancing cooperation between drivers raises new issues. In order to investigate the traffic flow and safety effects of such systems on the network level, we propose a holistic approach that parameterizes human-computer and human-human interactions in a driving simulator, and 'scales up' the results using a traffic simulation.
