A high level of automation, as it is used in agricultural technology, can also be found up to a certain extent in other ground based applications like driver assistant systems for road vehicles, which are designed to support the driver. For future driver assistant systems a very important information, especially for cooperative assistance applications, is the vehicle state. As these systems are combined with an active intervention by the respective assistant system, the requirements regarding reliability of sensor data must be set on high level. As most of the systems are based on GNSS positioning, they are impaired by many disturbances due to environmental influences. This paper describes a positioning architecture for applications in safety relevant assistant systems that are developed and tested at the Institute of Flight Guidance at the Technische Universität Braunschweig. Therefore, the used localization sensor data fusion, integrity mechanisms and results from localization sensor data fusion will be presented and discussed.
