Membrane deployable modular structures with inflatable tubes and connective cables for hierarchical modular space structure systems are investigated. It is intended to get possible candidate structures to fit construction scenarios using both automatic erectable construction and deployment construction for future large space structure systems over hundreds meters scale. Laboratory scale hand-made conceptual models of the basic module with spiral folding pattern are manufactured, and their deployment experiments are carried out. Modified folding pattern of inflatable tubes with zigzag folding to get their smooth and stable deployment is also introduced, and its effectiveness is shown. A conceptual model of hierarchical membrane modular structures consisted of six basic modules is also manufactured, and its deployment experiment is reported. It is shown that both simple module models and a hierarchical modular structure model deploy smoothly, and the applicability of the deployable membrane module to hierarchical modular structures systems was able to be demonstrated. To proceed further study from conceptual level to actual application level more accurate models must be manufactured and tested.
