Many marine engine builders have separately designed and applied torsional, axial and structural vibration monitoring system on their engines or ship machineries. These equipments displayed their results for engine operators or ship engineers operation but important data are not stored simultaneously in the computer hardware for predictive maintenance instrument. Hence, the vibration history and trend of marine diesel engines and ship machineries are not supported to protect against equipment failure. The integrated vibration or condition monitoring system (EVAMOS : Engine / Rotor Vibration Analysis and Monitoring System) for marine diesel engine including its components and ship machineries have been developed by the Dynamics Laboratory of Mokpo Maritime University (DL-MMU) during the last 5 years. This paper introduces the design concept and ability of the commercial software EVAMOS with actual field tests. Design concept of EVAMOS consists dually of vibration analysis & measurement and vibration monitoring function including display for data storage and predictive maintenance. Software is DLMMU brand package which transmits 70,000 lines using Visual Studio .NET programming language and can be operated in personal computer without other program (e. g. National Instrument (NI)'s LabVIEW). Hardware (A/D Board) was assembled with NI 9215, 9233, 4 channels module and other NI bundle package, into a chassis. EVAMOS has the vibration analysis function as the special equipment, vibration monitoring, display and the preventive maintenance function which is designed and analyzed by ISO 20283- 2 & 4 requirements. The function and capability of EVAMOS was mainly validated on two stroke low speed diesel engine (14RT96C-flex: 80,080 kW X 102 rpm) and four stroke high speed diesel engine (PL- 180FE: 566 kW X 1,800 rpm) during sea trial and factory test respectively.
