Based on previous authors' studies a simple simulation model of a seat equipped with a foreand- aft suspension system was developed. Using vibration and shock signals collected from field trials of a typical mid-sized loader while travelling on a test track and while piling the performance of the fore-and-aft suspension system is analysed in respect to both vibration control and shock control. Measures to improve the performance both in vibration control and in shock control by changing the damper and/or end-stops properties are suggested. Performance is analysed on hand of response characteristics using numerical simulation.
