Nanocyl is one of the major players in carbon nanotubes and solution based on carbon nanotubes. In addition to carbon nanotubes, Nanocyl's product line is completed by product such as EpoCyl (epoxy based dispersion), PlastiCyl (thermoplastic compounds and masterbatches). Recently, Nanocyl has developed a new type of carbon nanotube with very high affinity for the silicone resins and, also, an appropriate dispersion technique for this kind of nanotubes. This new nanotubes and dispersion technique have lead Nanocyl to commercialize new products in the coating applications. One of these products, called BioCyl, is a high performance fouling release coating. This product shows in addition of some anti-fouling properties a significant enhancement of the fouling release properties with respect to existing solutions. This improvement is showed by a decrease of the critical removal stress for young adult barnacles and an increase of Ulva sporeling biomass due to the addition of carbon nanotubes. This phenomenon is due to a transformation of the surface leading to an amelioration of the surface properties. This new product is totally environmentally friendly and cost effective and is currently under field testings for various applications such as pleasure craft, shipping industry, heat exchanger, aquaculture ...
