Overhead presentation. The current titanium supply chain management structure is outlined. It is shown that system optimization possibilities for PFW are limited from both sides and leads to a sub-optimum overall system (raw material/system requirements). An alternative supply chain for tailored titanium systems is proposed. Titanium sponge - melting/extrusion/pilgering/bending/assembly - customer. A manufacturing process is required at competitive cost for small volume production. The technology development strategy is outlined. The author shows that cost efficient small quantities of specialized Titanium can be industrialized.
