Overhead presentation. The drivers for future aircraft structures are: weight reduction, the need for improved capabilities, reduced component costs (material, manufacturing, assembly cost). The author presents Aleris improved capabilities for rolling of sheet and plate. The new Aleris alloys AA7081 and Ko8144 offer improved properties. Aleris' AlMgSc alloys allow for advanced manufacturing and assembly technologies such as welding and creep forming.
