The study focused on to predict two thermal comfort parameters: cabin interior air temperature and MRT. So as to predict these parameters, system compute external heat loads such as solar irradiation on cabin surfaces, convection and radiation heat transfers due to the car or wind velocity and internal heat sources like occupants in the car and internal body thermal contribution. The developed model has three subsystems called thermal behaviour of the compartment, solar irradiation and thermal comfort which are related to each other. Furthermore, study improved with calculating view factors between the cabin surfaces and driver by using CFD. Obtained view factors lead the calculation of MRT and the direct solar irradiation absorbed by the driver. Model was validated with measured and obtained experimental data. Agreements between the measurements and model predictions are highly satisfactory. With determination of heat transfer coefficients and material properties sensitively, differences between the simulation results and experimental measurement will be minimised. With the developed model, the effects of car colour and windows optical properties on thermal sensation and the physiological reactions of driver were investigated theoretically. Consequently, for a parked car in summer seasons, using solar reflecting glass in glazed areas and more reflecting car body painting (white) considerably decreases cabin interior air temperature and MRT. Owing to the reduction of time to reach the occupants thermal sensation in comfortable zone will cause more comfortable and economic cooling periods of an automobile.
