Energy storage systems, including Li ion battery, have been identified as critical technologies for clean, fuel-efficient transportations and energy management. In addition to the commercial success of LIB in portable electronics, transportation field such as HEV, PHEV and EV is adopting of LIB as power sources. Furthermore the electric grid including renewable power such as wind and solar also is considered as next application of LIB. Introduction of typical system and technological key parameters of each application will be presented.
