Improvement of comfort functionalities is an important distinguishing mark for competitiveness of automotive manufactures. The utilization of rotary MR actuators offers several new comfort functionalities. As an example an entry assist function is described in the following, where a rotary MR actuator is used for motion control of vehicle doors. Another possible application is force feedback generation for a steer-bywire system. Furthermore a modeling method for eddy current phenomena is proposed, which can be used for optimizing the response time of MR actuators.
