The article deals with possibilities for modelling and computation of reliability parameters of railway signalling and interlocking systems. The paper presents a design of Markov model of the railway warning board connected to microprocessor level crossing system. The transition rate matrix and the system of differential equations for the model are designed. Two reliability parameters (MTBF - mean time between failures, Q-unavailability) of the above mentioned system are investigated and the graphs of the parameters versus test interval duration at two different maintenance modes are displayed. The modelling and engineering calculations were performed using Reliability Workbench software tool by Isograph Ltd. As difficult reliability computations have to be made during lifecycle of railway interlocking systems, importance of usage of similar software reliability toolkits is emphasized in the article.
