This paper presents the development of a laboratory demonstrator within NEWSKY, a project co-funded by the European Commission within its 6th Research Framework Programme (FP6). The test-bed is used to demonstrate the feasibility of host and network mobility, using mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) and network mobility (NEMO) protocol stack for future air traffic management (ATM) networks. Representative results as an outcome of extensive network performance measurements using real satellite and emulated terrestrial links are presented at the end of the paper.
