Converter power circuits and cooling systems have been reviewed. Recommendations are made on how to choose converter circuits, power IGBT modules, and algorithms for motor voltage formation. Converters for a two-axis bogie are compared at a motor power of 1200 kW. A method for creating a unified converter for all types of electric locomotives is shown.
