In the past decades, the trend of controlling automatically shifting transmissions has moved from purely hydraulic to electro-hydraulic systems, thus making the gear selection not simply a consequence of intake-manifold vacuum and engine speed. This article describes the successful integration of the power based operation strategy on a hybrid drive train. The presented strategies for a real wheel torque concept were implemented into GALOP (GAngwahl Leistungs-OPtimiert - power-optimized gear selection). The feasibility was proven with the SiL-environment VeLoDyn. The next logical step would be to implement the presented strategy into a real hybrid vehicle and to investigate the extent to which the effort and cost of calibration can be reduced compared to a conventional strategy. Of course, drivability, driving performance, and fuel consumption would also be a point for investigation. Therefore the VeLoDyn model will be integrated on the IAV InDriVE system. InDriVE was developed in co-operation with the TU Braunschweig and represents a drivable simulator which allows to experience the behaviour of simulated powertrain systems and control strategies in real life and traffic.
