The plans for 2012 from the EU-legislative and the sanctions with regard to the C02 vehicle emissions are yielding to an increased pressure on the automotive industry. As a result hereof the automotive industry is challenged to reduce vehicle weights even more along with adding by the same token new improved crash safety features and integrating more efficiency supporting modules at less room consumption e.g. Double Clutch Transmissions and Hybrid Power trains. The differential offers a considerable potential to contribute especially in the aspects of weight reduction and less room consumption. This article in particular describes a new concept for a differential without a housing allowing to meet both, above objectiabove objectives and continuing the proven bevel gear module technology at the same time. The combination of simultaneous product and process development but also the ability to use precision forging technologies allows Neumayer-Tekfor Group to produce a very economical differential.
