Modern materials for insulation systems of heat-resistance classes H (180 deg C) and 200 deg C, as well as directions for perfecting them are presented. Some problems of the technology of manufacturing and testing electric insulation systems are considered. A number of topical problems exist whose solutions will allow to further improve insulation systems, in particular the following: (1) Increasing the mechanical strength and improve the adhesion properties of the surface of polyimide fluoroplastic insulation of winding wires; (2) developing a compound with a heat-resistance class no lower than H (180 deg C) with characteristics that allow one to efficiently implement all advantages of monolithic block design of windings of pole systems of commutator traction motors; (3) optimizing technological properties of polyimide mica-containing electric insulating tapes and impregnating compounds; (4) investigating the influence of the form of powering voltage on the intensity of electric aging of insulation systems of commutator-less traction motors. It is noted that the growing area of application of commutator-less traction drives with frequency control has dictated the necessity of evaluating the influence of the form of power voltage on the processes of electric aging of insulation systems. In this regard, a testing stand that will allow one to perform the above testing in accelerated regimes and thus obtain reliable information on stability of the insulation system to the influence of real operational electric loads has been developed.
