This paper presents a control analysis for wireless network supported longitudinal guidance of platoons with a limited number of vehicles. In order to account for both the organisation of vehicles within the dynamic network and their longitudinal stabilisation two control layers were developed. Different control structures depending on the availability of information are compared in simulations and the advantages of parameter optimisation for control with either broadcasting information or solely autonomously detected data are shown. The effects of failure of single senders within the vehicle network are analyzed and the presented control concepts are used to maintain string stability for the platoon despite of lost information.
