The scarcity of oil and the climatic change are the main reasons for the research of new drive concepts for road vehicles. A very promising concept is the electric drive, which is supplied by batteries, to displace the combustion engines in road vehicles for the urban traffic. Right at the moment the offer of electric vehicles is very small. The used technique is often not fully developed and the numbers, which are produced by the companies, are small. The drive components and new concepts can be tested and proved in practical conditions with the vehicle, which is described in this article. So the process of development from single components to the complete vehicle can be closed. The concept and the layout of the test vehicle, as well as the design of the drive system for acceleration runs, particularly with regard to the practical choice and the rating of the batteries are shown in this paper. Especially, this paper describes the way of arranging the whole hybrid components assembly.
