This paper investigates the simulation of a high performance induction motor with double air cooled system. The cooling system is based on an inherent heat exchanger consisting of an encapsulated inner circuit and an outer circuit. The rated mechanical output power of the traction machine is 135 kW at a maximum speed of 4160 rpm. A thermal network based on the principle of thermal equivalent circuits is developed and used to determine the thermal behaviour of the machine during a specified load cycle.
