In this study vehicle drift has been successfully simulated, where differential torque variation, engine mount, front-rear suspension characteristics and C.G. (Center of Gravity) location of the vehicle have been considered. Using co-simulation model, the interaction of differential friction and driveshaft stiffness can be considered, so that the drift simulation under accelerating condition is accurate and shows same result compared with the experiment by same configuration. The simulation parameters for drift under braking condition are the front and rear suspension parameters, driveshaft stiffness, braking force distribution, cant road and load. Under acceleration condition driveshaft stiffness is the most significant factor in vehicle drift. Ride height and engine mounting position contribute toward vehicle drift during accelerating also. Some suspension parameters such as anti-lift percent, front toe and front damping are significant factors also. Under braking condition it is noticed that weight condition, which is determined from the number of passengers, is the most significant factor. Compared to 1-up condition the drift moment changes as the C.G. location changes at 2-up condition, so that the drift to the right is reduced compared to the 1-up condition. Finally, using the developed model, drift simulation under constant velocity condition has been performed. At this driving condition, road gradient, caster trail, PRAT (Plysteer Residual Aligning Torque), camber and caster angle are the most significant factors for drift. In this research, new simulation approach using co-simulation model has been performed for drift simulation. The significant drift factors have been ordered and their effects have been compared for longitudinal acceleration, driving and braking conditions successfully with improved accuracy.
