In view of the finiteness of fossil energy sources, the CO2 discussion and political constraints regarding emission limitations of motor vehicles, the OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) have focused on the development of alternative drive concepts for several years. The parallel hybrid drive, already on the market in different development stages, is one of these concepts. The published values in terms of fuel consumption are determined in standardised cycles, e.g. the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle). These values, however, do not correlate sufficiently with the ones determined in practice. In this regard, a holistic approach will be presented by means of which the driver behaviour in real traffic can be determined and represented in a simulation. This is based on the so-called DRV parameter space which is defined by the three variables Driver (customer), Road (driving environment) and Vehicle. The presented DRV method allows the analysis of parallel HEVs in customer operation. The DRV parameter space is acquired in extensive driving tests with normal drivers in real traffic where all relevant driver and vehicle data are recorded by measuring equipment. This measuring database allows the parameterisation of the statistical driver and road models of the simulation environment MOVE3F, which at the same time allows the implementation of a parallel hybrid drivetrain. By means of the customer simulation, all interesting parameters in terms of longitudinal dynamics depending on modelling depth can be determined. Apart from the parameters fuel consumption and the connected CO2 emissions focused on in this paper, the loads of all drivetrain components incl. the loads of the electric drive can be calculated with this model. In the future, the analysis options of the presented model will be developed further and optimisation criteria for the components of the electric drive will be derived.
