The aim of this paper is to present different aspects which are necessary for designing an optimised power electronics inverter for an electric power steering application. After the introduction, a mathematical tool for the calculation of power losses in MOSFET-based power electronics converters used in automotive applications, taking into account production and temperature variations, will be presented. After that EMI constraints will be discussed. Simulation and experimental result will be presented.
