When a vehicle is no longer used, it is commonly crunched and its main components must be recycled. Thus it is very interesting to have the possibility of recovering some components in order to utilise them again to build new vehicles. Among these components those including iron are very important. The problem is that, using classical methods, the quality of the recovered iron is rather bad because it is polluted with elements coming from electrical wires and cables. Hereafter are detailed some methods which improve the sorting of the various components. Satisfactory results were reached using crumbly magnetic cores or aluminium made windings.
