In a study of components from the automobile industry, we have applied the method of Pulsed Thermography. The components surveyed are functional elements consisting of Glass Fibre Reinforced Plastics. In the present study the glass fiber distribution had to be determined. Since the components studied are of complex shape, including varying thickness, curvatures and edges, we have to take into account the influence of geometry effects as well as specific excitation conditions in the evaluation. The data obtained are corrected with respect to geometry and excitation effects by means of numerical simulation and are shown to be in excellent agreement with 3D-Computed Tomography results after their correction.
