The assembly of uncured 'Green Tire' segments made from prefabricated semi-finished products plays an important role in the production line of tires. Especially the adhesion among the compounds is of significant influence to the mechanical stability of the final product, the tire. Unfortunately, temperature and humidity while storing strongly impact on the adhesion (tackiness) between the semi-finished products. Consequently, the cohesion between two or more superimposed layers can become insufficient. Herein, GABO QUALIMETER Testanlagen GmbH presents a new tackiness testing system. This system enables the user to determine adhesion forces between semi-finished products with an excellent level of reproducibility by means of a straight forward test procedure. The prediction of tackiness becomes reliable. The new tackiness tester manufactured by GABO QUALIMETER is a new instrument for a reliable determination of adhesion between sticking surfaces of different layers such as uncured elastomers, resins, lacquers, epoxy resins, pre-pregs and many more. The system uses patented special sample holders. The measurement setup and the most important test parameters - contact force (pressure force), pressure time, pressure speed and separation speed - can be selected independently from each other. An adhesion measurement machine, which has mainly been developed and designed for the tire industry, completes the product range of well known and field proven dynamic mechanical testing systems.
