Model-Based Design with automatic production code generation is used to develop a variety of automotive electronic systems including integrated chassis management, driver assistance, and other safety related systems. The software deployed in these systems has to undergo rigorous verification and validation because the consequences of failures could be severe. New and enhanced verification and verification techniques are emerging, and further leverage Model-Based Design for today's complex embedded systems and their software. This paper describes these approaches and their use in Model-Based Design, with respect to the automotive project life cycle.
