In multibody dynamics simulations the inertia properties of the rigid bodies are most important parameters which have to be obtained by computations or experiments. In many engineering applications, like engines in vehicles, the rigid bodies are very inhomogeneous and accurate data can only be obtained by experiments. Then, the question arised how accurate measurements and data processing of the inertia parameters have to be to get reliable simulation results. For this purpose a sensitivity analysis of inertia parameters is proposed. Modeling, simulation and sensitivity analysis are presented for a passenger car excited by parallel and shifted bumps, respectively. The results show, that for the spatial motion of vehicles, the center of mass postition and some elements of the inertia tensor are sensitive parameters which have to be measured with great care.
