Main aspects of soldier body protection against small caliber ammunition and the protection compounds were shown. The trends in developing nanomaterials were specified. High protective performance of light-weight materials with nanolayers or nanoparticles were reviewed. Both the stiff solid bodies for manufacturing helmets and inserts for bullet-proof vests and the elastic fibers for making uniforms and bullet-proof vests were taken into consideration. The adaptive stiffness of materials from very soft (for regular wear) to extremely stiff ones (when impacted with projectile or knife) was the goal in soldier body protection. A variety of nanomaterials for the soldier body armour (G-Lam fibers, fibers and polymers filled with nanoparticle mixtures, nanoelements-coated metals, sheer thickening fluids, mouldable rubber-like elastomers merged with ceramic armour) were described. The technology for producing the nanofibers by electrospinning was also presented. Bilingual document: English/Polish.
